Shoulders are one of the most mobile joints in the human body, but they can easily become interrupted by body functional asymmetry leading to shoulder pain and issues like frozen shoulder. There are more than 20 muscles that affect the correct functioning of your shoulders. As a result, shoulders are very sensitive to repetitive movement strains and injuries. If you feel any light interruptions to your shoulder movements, act immediately to avoid pain and long-lasting problems.
The scapulars, or shoulder blades, are one of the most important components of the shoulder structure. I have come across conditions where the left and right shoulder blades are up to 5 cm out of alignment. In some cases, arms have become rotated or inverted by up to 90 degrees, with some clients not being able to lift their shoulders up to a horizontal level.
But I can help. As a qualified bowen therapist, I am ready to take care of your shoulder pain. Based in Sunshine North, I service a wide local area across Melbourne’s western suburbs including Caroline Springs, Essendon, Footscray, St Albans, Sunshine and other nearby areas.
Whether you’re looking for Bowen therapy for frozen shoulder, lower back pain treatment, carpal tunnel or any other pain-related issue, I can help.
Frozen shoulder is a rare but serious shoulder ailment. Also known as adhesive capsulitis, frozen shoulder is not the same as a rotator cuff tear or impingement. Rotator cuff tears are common, impingement is common, but frozen shoulder is not.
The shoulder joint has a little cup with cartilage over it, a big head covered with cartilage, a rim, which is the labrum, and the capsule. The capsule is a skin around the joint. It holds the fluid in the joint, which allows for smooth gliding movements.
Since the shoulder has such a wide range of movement, the capsule is big and floppy. It’s not a structural element, but it locks around the joint if you bring your arm one way and it stretches if you move your arm another way.
With a frozen shoulder, the capsule becomes hot, inflamed and it starts shrinking. When inflamed you get fibrosis and scarring, and the whole thing shrink-wraps around the head of the humerus. This inflammation leads to serious shoulder pain and a limited range of movement. Normal movements become difficult and painful to the point that putting food in your mouth becomes the last movement that you can still do.
I provide Bowen therapy for frozen shoulder and a range of other shoulder related pain and injuries.
Bursitis is a condition that occurs when the small, fluid-filled sacs (bursae) that cushion the bones, tendons, and muscles near your joints become inflamed. This inflammation can be caused by repetitive motions or sudden trauma to the area. Bursitis often causes pain and tenderness in the affected joint.
Since the shoulder produces such a wide range of motion and is made up of so many joints, tendons and muscles, bursitis can often affect shoulder joints. The most common area of problem is the subacromial area of the shoulder. This is usually related to shoulder impingement of the bursa between rotator cuff tendons by the subacromial bone.
I can provide Bowen therapy for subacromial bursitis.
Elbow pain, including tennis elbow, golfer’s elbow, carpal tunnel and associated shoulder pain, often presents as a side effect of inflammation and muscle overuse from strenuous movements or repetitive elbow medial rotation. It can be caused by repetitive movements at work or during recreational activities. It can also be caused by falls and injuries.
Good Bowen Therapy offers holistic treatments for elbow-related pain.
At Good Bowen Therapy, I provide professional Bowen therapy for neck and headache pain, lower back pain, back and hip pain, knee and foot pain and more. With happy and pain-free clients all over Melbourne’s west, I can help you too.
