Lower back pain & sciatica.
Lower back pain can be debilitating — but it nearly always has a primary cause. I don't just treat the symptoms; I find and address the source, using gentle Bowen techniques to relieve the pain and restore movement.

Sciatica & lower back pain
Sciatica can cause both lower back pain and leg pain. It occurs when the sciatic nerve — which runs from the lower back all the way to the feet — becomes compressed or irritated. It may also come from degenerative disc changes in the lumbar and sacral area, or a disc bulge pressing against the nerve root.
Sciatica can be extremely painful, making it difficult to walk or stand for long periods, with pain running down the back, thigh, leg and foot. Often it results from a few overly tight muscles around the hips placing pressure on the sacral nerve. Body functional asymmetry can also be the cause — sometimes it’s as simple as one small muscle at the back of the leg pressing on the sciatic nerve.
I don’t just treat the symptoms of sciatica — I identify the primary cause, then use Bowen techniques to relieve the pain at its source.

Carpal tunnel syndrome
The nerve passage inside the wrist is called the carpal tunnel. This passage can become interrupted — usually by repetitive strain from hand work, or by a fall. Inflammation in and around the tunnel causes swelling, which places pressure on the nerves: carpal tunnel syndrome. Common symptoms include tingling, numbness, pins and needles, and hand weakness.
There are surgical treatments for carpal tunnel, but these tend to leave areas of scar tissue that can become harder than the surrounding tissue — and that scar tissue can create a different kind of pain than the original condition. I have extensive experience working with carpal tunnel: relieving the pain symptoms, identifying the primary cause, and using gentle, natural therapy to release the tension caused by scar tissue.
